Trish Stratus

Interview with former WWE Diva Trish Stratus

Our first interview with WWE Superstar hometown girl of Toronto, Canada Trish Stratus and the Suitman went looking for stratusfaction and asked the blonde bombshell what she recommends for those coming to T.O.Canada for the first time and what she likes to do when she is home around town.

Trish's Toronto tips:

With everything from tourist attractions (CN Tower, Toronto Zoo), theatre, restaurants, nightlife and shopping, Toronto has it all. The city is very metropolitan. I often compare it to New York City in the sense that it offers as much as the Big Apple, minus the crowds, crime and -- yes, you've probably heard this before about the cities in Canada -- it's very clean! Another great thing about Toronto is its multicultural diversity. There are sections all over the city that are devoted entirely to different cultures. So you can enjoy shopping, food and nightlife in Little Italy, Chinatown or the Danforth (Greek Town) and not even leave the city of Toronto.

Places to eat: House of Chan (great steak), Desserts Plus (great Italian - awesome pizza), Athen's Pastry (great Greek pastries)

Places to shop: Eaton Centre and anywhere up and down Yonge Street

Our Second Interview with Trish Stratus,

Recently "D-Teflon" aka Derrick Ling spoke with friend from Toronto Canada and former Fitness Model and WWE Superstar Trish Stratus for his second interview with her and she let a little of her stratusfaction loose as we let you get to know some of the things that you may not know about the blonde bombshell The WWE Superstar hottest Diva Today!

We would also like to wish Trish Stratus a very Happy Birthday as today is her Birthday.

D-Outsider:When and where were you born?

Trish Stratus:I was born December 18th 1975 in Toronto Ontario

D:Outsider:When did you first show an interest in Fitness?

Trish Stratus: I always knew about the benefits of working out thanks to my mom. She was a long distance runner and she got me into aerobics with her in the 80's. She had the Jane Fonda Tapes. My mom was a huge influence on me and when it came time to choose a career,I decided to go to pre med to study the body.

I majored in biology and minored in Kinesiology. My goal first was to help people make a difference in their lives and Ironically ,I guess I have been able to impact more lives through fitness than I would have to just seeing patients in a doctor's office.

D-Teflon:Were you are a heartbreaker and sore on the eyes when you were growing as a kid like the attractive woman you are today

Trish Stratus:You could say I was what you would call a tomboy. I was a cute kid but I never paid any attention to my looks .I was never into makeup or doing my hair.In fact I never even wore makeup until junior year of highschool.

D-Teflon: How did you become a fitness model ?

Trish Stratus: In 1997 I was finishing up my last year of University when the professors went on strike.I panicked because my whole plan was to start med school next fall.It wasn't like I could make up the credits, there were lab hours and other things.Basically,I was screwed. While I waited for the professors to come back and teach,I took a receptionist job at World Gym.I met a trainer there who thought I should be in magazines and he introduced me to Robert Kennedy the Founder of Muscle Mag Magazine.Robert asked me for some pictures expecting I would have some type of modeling porfolio.I was sitting there digging through my wallet like well here's one of me and my dog.He set up test shoot to see how I photographed. He liked what he saw and said that he was going to South Beach Miami in six month's for a swimsuit shoot train hard and be ready for it.That gave me a great goal and I trained my butt of for six months and totally transformed my body. I'm an all or nothing type of person .I can't do anything halfway .I had to give everything to either med school or fitness modeling .I decided that I was young and this was a great opportunity,so I went for it. After that shoot he put me under contract .I got a good fan response and after that I was in Muscle Mag all the time .Basically I owe alot to Robert Kennedy was the first person who saw my potential and believed in me.

D-Teflon:How did you first become involved with the WWE?

Trish Stratus:Once again it was another situation of being in the right place at the right time .I had been a wrestling fan all my life.Hulk Hogan made a big impression of me for the way he changed the industry. He truly made it sports entertainment and brought wrestling to a whole other level. Randy Macho Man Savage was another wrestler who had a terrific and combination of showmanship and real athleticism .I also like the Hart Family,Ricky Steamboat and later the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin,Anyway I was a guest on TSN show off the record with Micheal Landsberg and a couple of wrestlers were on the show with me.

Somehow out of coincidence a rumour developed on the internet that I was going to the WWE.Of course I was still just a fan. The producers of radio talk show about wrestling contracted me about it. I told them it wasn't true they wanted me to co-host the show .I jumped at the chance. It got me exposed to a lot more wrestling fans and athelte.sI was backstage at an event Toronto and some of the wrestlers knew me from a MuscleMag cover. They encouraged me to send a press kit to Jim Ross of the WWE,the man who finds all the talent for the roster,I sent it off, and decided to prepare myself for when they called.

D-Teflon:Did you intend to wrestle from the outset or did that evolve as you became more popular?

Trish Stratus: I knew from the beginning I didn't want to just be eye candy a pretty girl for the fans to look at .I wanted to get physical. I went to the Sully's Gym in Toronto to learn how to wrestle under the tutelage of Ron Hutchinson who trained Edge and Christian,Val Venis-aka Sean Morely of WWE. When I first walked into the place it looked like the Gym from early Rocky movies,It was dark in a basement cement block walls.Ron didn't take me very seriously at first,He was like here comes little blondie but I worked my ass of and showed him I was there to learn. My gymnastics background helped me alot.

We trained for two or three hours a day four days a week for six months. Then I received offers from WWE,WCW,and ECW all within a space of a couple of weeks. It was an easy choice .I 've always admired the WWE for their product and how they market it. I signed with them in November 99,Ironically I didn't have to try out like I thought they knew Ron trained me well.

D:Teflon: Many fans I am sure would like to know are some of the meanest wrestlers the actually the nicest in reality.

Trish Stratus:People really believe the characters we play which goes to the show you we're doing our jobs. The reality is that we're all one big family. You have to be. We travel 300 days a year together,we're all trying stay fit and perform at our best. The only way it can work is if we all get long and support each other,They say we're one of the best locker room groups the WWE has ever had.

D-Teflon:How often did you travel? Do you ever get to come home at all?

Trish Stratus: We travelled Saturday through Wednesday five day's a week .Saturday and Sunday are house shows. Monday Nights we do Raw is War and Tues we tape SmackDown. We always have to be at every event even if we are not scheduled on the card just in case they need us .I was home two days a week,You have to love the business because it's alot of Sacrifice...But that's what they pay us for. I can relate to hokey and baseball players but at least they have an off season!

D-Teflon:What's it like when you are out of the ring and being a real celebrity recognized everywhere you go? Has your privacy disappeared?

Trish Stratus: D it's actually quite shocking,It' seems like no matter where I go or how I'm dressed people recognize me.It wasn't like that when I was in fitness. Wrestling Fans are passionate and that's what really blew me away when I was in England doing a show doing a publicity gig before the big match I had over there. People were yelling at me in the street and this was in a totally diff rent county, where I didn't expect for anyone to know me.

I was on a TV show where the Spice Girls were musical guest and Sporty Spice came out to compliment me ..That was incredible ..I was like your a Spice Girl'' so many people watch wrestling. Micheal Clark Duncan from the Green Mile and Shaquille Oneil wanted my autograph .I just can't go out in public anymore and blend with the crowd .I guess now I can really relate to the stars who wear hats and sunglasses whenever they go out.It can be overwhelming sometimes.

D-Teflon: Do you still do anything related to the Fitness Industry?

Trish Stratus: I really wish I could but I don't have the time right now .I keep in touch with all my fans from fitness through my website and when I'm home I answer their emails and questions about fitness,I am actually adding a fitness section,I have always loved meeting my fans at the Muscle Mag Store openings .I have had alot of them cross over to wrestling to follow my exploits.

D:Teflon:What would have you have like to done with your modeling and wrestling careers?

D-Teflon::Do you have any favourite movies?

Trish Stratus: I loved the Rocky Series one through five,The Temptations and Gladiator.

D-Teflonr:What are your favourite Television shows you like to watch ?

Trish Stratus: Raw is War and Smackdown,

D-Teflon: What do people most assume before they meet you that just isn't true.

Trish Stratus: People usually thin I'm a bitchy girl a bitchy bimbo who's not very bright. They are always amazed that I can string two words together.

D:Teflon:What would you consider you best traits ?

Trish Stratus: I am a perfectionist" I 'am always looking for ways to improve on everything I do .I have a great sense of humour. Most important,I 'm humble and down to earth. People who meet me and are always supervised by that,But I believe that we're all the same .I just happen to have a job that puts me in the public eye.

Trish Stratus: I would have been a doctor .I was looking to specialize in genetics which is a booming field right now and into the future.

D-Teflon:When your at home or at the Hotels on the road how do you relax

Trish Stratus: I like movies especially since I got my DVD player. I like listening to music playing video games and surfing the internet...and of course I still love to watch wrestling!

D-Teflon:Finally what would you consider to be your prized possession?

Trish Stratus:mmmm that's a tough one D. I would have to say my drive to succeed!

D-Teflon:,Well my dear Trish thank you for one of my best interview so far to date and I look forward to hearing from you soon and continue to keep up the good work and Happy Birthday and Happy Holiday's to you and your family and I hope I have the pleasure once again of doing such an amazing interview. Is there anything else you would like to say to all your fans.
